In 2019 Primeur celebrated the milestone of our 50th year in business – an achievement we are incredibly proud of. We are honoured to work with many of the UK's retail groups and independents creating bespoke ranges as well as expanding our own brand offer. With just over 50,000 sq. ft of warehousing at our head office in Bingley, West Yorkshire, this ensures our customers have 100% availability and we can react to increases in demand quickly. Innovation and product development has been key to our business success and remains at the heart of what we do today.
Primeur's values reflect who we are and what we stand for.
Primeur began trading in March 1968 under the name of Clayton and Strutt. Our first customers operated in the mail order trade and one of the first deliveries we made was a coir doormat which we still sell today.
Primeur's product areas have expanded and changed dramatically over the years. Although today we concentrate on our doormat, pet and garden ranges, we once sold rotary airers, paddling pools and worked alongside Curver bringing their plastics range to the UK market.
1993 marked the start of Primeur's textile business. We began supplying scatter rugs to retailers and quickly expanded into other product areas including throws, cushions, beanbags & cubes, and doorstops.
Primeur were the first company to introduce washable doormats into the market in 1995. Since then it has grown to become our bestselling category.
In 1997 the registered trading name was changed to Primeur Limited. Our logo can be seen on many products including the Mighty Mats brand.
In 2005 Primeur employed their first designer. Since then our talented team has grown into packaging and product designers and trend forecasters.
In January 2012 Primeur successfully trademarked 'Mighty Mat' for their branded doormats within the retail sector.
In 2016 Primeur launched its recycled rubber garden products range including stepping stones, garden borders, paving and planters. These eco-friendly products have won numerous industry accolades since their introduction to the market.
2019 marked Primeur's 50th year in business. It was also the year the Mighty Mat brand was expanded into 'Mighty Mats – the home of doormats' under which a collection of new developments were launched
2022 saw the launch of our new branding project with the Primeur logo refreshed for the first time in over 50 years.
